The other day, a friend of mine told me about a holiday cookie exchange she was invited to recently. She prepared for the event ahead of time by having a healthy meal so she didn't go into the event hungry. While there, she did sample some of the cookies because everyone else was. She took her share of the cookies home, but found herself being drawn to them every time she passed them in the kitchen. So, instead of leaving them there as a temptation, she put most of them into the freezer. Out of sight, out of mind. If you find yourself surrounded by tempting foods at home, this is one strategy you can employ, especially with most unfrosted cookies, cakes, and muffins. If that won't work for you, try limiting the treats you bring into the house. I find this is the only way to keep myself from making my way through a bag of festive, holiday-wrapped chocolate treats.
