In Holiday Tip #2 and Holiday Tip #10 I discussed incorporating activity into your day and making it a part of the time you spend with others. I'm revisiting it today because so many of us go to social events with family and/or friends that are centered around food. This topic would come up frequently when I talked to clients who were trying to lose weight. They often became frustrated because being around tempting foods and seeing others eat these foods would be a trigger for them. So, as you get ready to move into 2014, think about ways that you can enjoy the time you spend with others in a more active way instead of meeting for drinks, dinner, or dessert. Some ideas to get you started: go bowling, take a bike ride, walk on a trail, go ice skating, or have game night at someone's house. I'd love to hear of any ways you enjoy spending time with others in an active way!
